Can God Choose a Spouse for Us?

Image
Y es, God can choose a spouse for you. There are eight examples in the Bible that I was reading about on how God brought couples together that include: Adam and Eve (see Genesis 2:4-25), Isaac and Rebekah (see Genesis 24), Jacob and Rachel (see Genesis 29:1-30),  Moses and Zipporah (see Exodus 2:11-25),  Samson's marriage to the Philistine woman (see Judges 14),  Ruth and Boaz (see the book of Ruth),  Esther and King Xerxes (see Esther 2:1-18), and Hosea and Gomer (see Hosea 1:1-11).  I was looking at these stories to get some insight about God choosing a mate for us and I believe God showed me how everyone's stories were different but there were some similarities that we can learn from.  For example, if we look in the Bible under Genesis 2:18, God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone, I will make a helper suitable for him." So, He prepared Eve and brought her to Adam as a helpmate .  Other similar examples of God bringing a spouse to...

How to Choose a Friend?

You should choose friends by asking God to choose your friends for you. The Bible tells us not to be joined together with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14-17); although we need to love and do right by all people, we need to be careful with who we are friends with. In order to determine if someone is a decent person, pay attention to their fruit, or their character. Whatever is stored up in their heart will show itself outwardly. (Luke 6:43-45). If a potential friend comes into your life, evaluate the person's character and spirit with the following fruits of the spirit found in Galatians ...

Who Should You Trust?

Trust is to be completely dependent on someone and to know they will always do what is right.  The Bible tells us that we should only put our trust in God. It is not wise to trust ourselves, other people including friends, family, lovers, and even those in high positions (see Proverbs 28:26, Micah 7:5, and Psalm 118:9, 146:3). You don't believe me?  Here are just a few examples from the Bible: Adam and Eve betrayed themselves and God when they allowed the serpent to convince them to eat from the exact tree God directly told them not to eat from.  God had just rescued the Hebrews from slavery and sho...
